When I consider my journey to my college counseling career, I’m struck by how varied my path has been. I am the product of Ohio public schools and followed that right into The Ohio State University. At, OSU I was a college athlete for two years on the rowing team and one year as a coxswain for the Varsity Men’s Team, where we miraculously won the National Championships, upsetting some big powerhouse elite colleges. Although my time in the athletics department was amazing, I struggled to find my footing in my classes. My father, a college genetics professor, suggested that I look at some smaller private universities to finish my degree.  What a difference that made for me where I found a passion for Architectural Studies at Philadelphia University. I then went on to receive my Masters in Architecture from The University of Miami in Florida. My learning went beyond the classroom years after, as I got married and moved from Texas to California to China/Hong Kong to Singapore and then back to California, where I finally settled.  Those years focused my learning into language, cultures, travel, children, and family life. Through family life, I saw my passion for helping teens discover the immense world of higher education. This is where I began my journey and decided to go back to school to attend UCLA’s College Counseling Program.  I find personal joy in seeing the bright look in the teenagers’ eyes when they figure out what sparks them to follow their journey to university and find the best fit for the most memorable and productive time of their young lives.
